"Go tell it on the Mountain"
"The Southern Highlands Family, and Faith"
Do the folks of today have faith? In the turmoil that surrounds us today, it seems that many have lost the meaning and purpose of their lives. The mountaineer never doubted the reason for his existence.
His faith sustained them with calm assurance.
Join me as I tell of the faith of the mountaineer family.

Hymns from Appalachia will be the featured music.

There will be no broadcast tomorrow morning!
I am still fighting the "virus from hell"! T'is not a pleasant sight here at the
"Crossroads" broadcast booth/Storytelling Center.
But, my hope is that come next Saturday, I will be ready to kick off a New Year with some old mountain memories.
I thank everyone for your Christmas wishes to this old mountain man, and, for you concern about my well being during this time of illness.

Christmastide - Part 4
"A Radio Christmas"

T'was, December 15, 5 years ago that I performed a benefit for a little girl
who had Leukemia.
I presented it at the Smoky Mountain Community Theater in Bryson City, NC.
T'was called "A Radio Christmas"
The little girls name was Haley.
She fought hard, she really did.
She was an inspiration to her classmates, her community,
to her family, and especially, to me.
She succumbed to the disease.
I will present, this Saturday morning, the benefit program that I did 5 years ago in its entirety,
in honor of Haley, and all those fighting diseases, of any form.
And, please, support the finding of cures, for all dreaded diseases.

"A time of Believing"

The faith of the mountaineer is summed up in this;
"Faith is not belief with out proof..."
"Faith is trust without reservation..."
(paraphrased Elton Trueblood quote)
At this time of year,
during this most wondrous of seasons,
faith and belief have no reservation.
Join me as we travel the backroads and dwell in the faith and belief of
the Southern Highlander.

"Giving Thanks"
November 27, 2014

Grandpa used to say, "Don't know why there is a single day to celebrate thanksgiving!"
"In our home, we give thanks for all that we have, everyday. That's the way it should be."
Yes, that's the way it should be Grandpa.
I find very odd that every year at this time, folks start telling of the misinformation, and, aberrant heritage, of the day of celebration, called "Thanksgiving"!
So, come with me as I tell of Thanksgiving, in the home, amongst the mountains, of a place known as the Southern Highlands.
I will attempt not to get into the history of Thanksgiving, just the history of "Giving Thanks".
